A Purrfectly Spectacular Event-San Diego's CFA Cat Show

A cat came out to play!

Are you a fan of all things feline? Well I am sure you would have had a purrfect time at San Diego’s CFA Cat Show this past January. Starting on Saturday the 27th and ending the 28th, San Diego’s Cat Fancier Inc., the largest Cat Show in the western U.S, hosted their 33rd annual show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds! It was an exciting event with many activities and shopping to experience!

When first walking into the event, you get a wonderful view of all the vendors set up to sell everything cat! This included cat themed shoes, t-shirts, figurines, and even all the items needed to adopt one. Many of these tables were being run by local San Diego residents who were all excited to join the Cat Show this year. Moving on from shopping, you could walk the aisles filled with cat breeders' most prized possessions-their cats! Cats of all breeds and kinds were available to see, with many owners taking their felines out to play with people walking around! Each aisle was divided up by breed with informational signs next to them. These signs included all that was needed to know about the breed such as their size, color, temperament, and more. Additionally, many breeders also had a lot of kittens for sale and ready for their forever home.

Besides the breeder’s selling their cats, San Diego and Southern California rescues also had their adoptable cat’s being shown off for the public to see! There were so many available ranging from little kittens to seniors ready for adoption! We were very glad that many of these cats got adopted by the end of the event. From there, you could also see the competitions taking place with cats being shown off to win prizes ranging from different categories like best in color, best of breed, etc. And besides them being judged on looks, there was also an agility course ready for the cats to take action! With hoops and tunnels ready for them to scurry through, many cats had a great showing of their athletic skills-although many had the typical feline temperament and refused their owners directions.

There was also an excellent area for future cat-fancier’s to learn more about how to take care of their pets, information about breeds, and how to get ready for a cat show. Alongside this, there was even a cat show in which children and their plushies could partake in! You bet it was adorable to see all the kids enjoying showing off their very own competitors.

Overall, the cat show was an event ready for all to enjoy and show their love of cats to the world! We most definitely recommend going to San Diego’s 34th annual cat show happening next year, and make sure to bring the whole family too!
