All Things Food and Fun: Foodieland

image of fair

Foodieland, an entertainment event for food lovers, was held in Del Mar at the Snapdragon stadium through 14-16 of this June. With a welcoming and exciting atmosphere, San Diegans flocked to see what the celebration was all about. With more than 250 vendors ranging from food, beverage, and small businesses; it was lit up for the whole family to enjoy.

Luckily, some of our Teens Talk San Diego writers were able to attend and see what it was all about!

When walking into the event we were immediately in awe from the mass variety of shops and food waiting to be bought and eaten. It was almost too much to take in! First we stopped by Lemon Tea Squeeze to try their beverages filled in cute animal cups; ranging from pink pigs, adorable bears,  loveable cows, and chubby cats. Each drink was utterly delicious and the cup made it even more enjoyable. We specifically tried the Lychee Lemonade, Mango Tea, and Peach Tea Lemonade--which kept us refreshed all day!

Next we made our way to the food where the many selections awaited our choosing. With options such as cheesy arepas from MozzArepas, Filipino brioche/butter buns from The Ensaymada Project, Mao Bao’s homemade dumplings, ube desserts from the Ube bread box, and many more, we ultimately decided to try ZinDrew’s Wonton Shop. There we had delicious vegetable wontons covered in scallion and chili oil with extra noodles we ordered to eat alongside. They were so amazing, some of the best I have ever tasted, and a great way to start off the event.

Next we tried the arepas from MozzArepas, specifically getting the cheese and jalapeno one. From the first bite we were taken aback from the Instagram worthy cheese and the savory sweet cornbread taste; there was nothing else like it! After that, we decided it was time to go big or go home and got the giant fried squid next door. When I tell you giant was an understatement, the whole family had to share! The crispiness was unmatched, and the seafood was super fresh. It was a great way to end the meal before moving onto dessert of banana pudding and ice cream.

In all, Foodieland is an event worth going to for lovers of all food and fun! We had an amazing time and will definitely make sure to come back next year in their 2025 return.
